Dave Bork Invite- October 14, 2023
The Dave Bork Invite held on October 14, 2023, will be a memorable occasion for the cross-country teams of Renton Jr High School. The day was marked by cold and rainy weather, presenting a significant challenge for all the participating runners. Despite the adverse conditions, the Renton girls’ team delivered a strong performance. While the team didn’t achieve a collective score, their top three finishers – Zoey Cheney (14:31) finishing 18th, Jennalynn Bronstein (15:32) securing 42nd place, and Riley Szawara (16:08PR) claiming the 56th position – all received well-deserved medals. Other members of the Renton team also displayed remarkable determination, with Isa Vargo (16:20) at 60th place, Stella Mac (16:34) at 65th, Ryan Cheney (17:05) at 74th, Layna Shirey (17:56) at 79th, Aubrey Turk (17:56) at 87th, and Isabel Kridner (20:56) at 112th, all completing the race.
The Renton boys’ team faced similarly challenging rainy conditions, but they managed to run an outstanding race. The course was muddy and slippery, but the team persevered and gave their all. The event did not assign a team score, yet the Renton boys’ runners delivered commendable performances. The leading runners for the boys’ team included Alex Stolkey (14:30) securing the 59th place, Ethan Brophy (14:52) at 67th, Liam Holdwick (15:08) at 74th, Henry Broughton (15:27) at 80th, Oliver Sherz (15:34) at 87th, John Lapointe (15:57) at 96th, Mason Kidd (16:16) at 100th, Ryan Stolkey (17:46) at 124th, Griffin Bozich (17:58) at 125th, Cael Dodson (18:00) at 126th, Brady Allen (18:13) at 129th, Ryan Clelland (18:51) at 133rd, and Carter Crane (19:03) at 136th. Their exceptional performance in the challenging rainy conditions deserves recognition.
